While summer has only just arrived, the members of Indiana Cares Campaign are looking ahead to this fall. We have some exciting events on the horizon, and September and October are shaping up to be some very busy months. The following are just a taste of some of the events in store in the coming months. Mark your calendars and come on out to celebrate what promises to be a landmark season of social events, entertainment, and community awareness and visibility, and we cannot do it without you!

  • Indiana County Fair Booth (August 24-31)—We will be setting up a booth at the Indiana County Fair. Volunteers are needed to help staff the booth.
  • Renaissance City Choir Concert (September 28)—Pittsburgh’s Renaissance City Choirs, comprising LGBT individuals and allies, will perform a special concert in the Gorrell Recital Hall in John Sutton Hall on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus.
  • Steeler Tickets Raffle (September and October)—Win a chance to see the Steelers vs. the Ravens from the 50-yard line. The game takes place on October 20. Volunteers are needed to sell tickets to individuals and to assist in sales at the Indiana Mall on September 14 and October 2.
  • Chris Beckman (September 30)—Artist, author, activist, and former Real World cast member, Chris Beckman will speak as part of  the IUP Six O’Clock series.
  • Homecoming (October 5)—ICC will join Indiana PFLAG, IUP Pride Alliance, and the IUP GLBT Commission in the Homecoming parade. Join us and represent Indiana pride!
  • IUP Six O’Clock Series “He Continues to Make a Difference: The Story of Matthew Shepard” (October 7)—Lesléa Newman, author of Heather has Two Mommies, discusses her book of poetry influenced by the circumstances surrounding the murder of Matthew Shepard and the impact of the murder on the world.
  • The 10th Annual Indiana LGBT Film Festival (Sunday evenings in October)—Perhaps the most momentous of our fall events, ICC celebrates 10 years of creating awareness through film. Each Sunday night in October ICC presents both domestic and international LGBT-themed short and feature films and documentaries. There is sure to be something for everybody. Films are shown in Beard Auditorium in Stouffer Hall on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus. Selections will be announced in September.
